Light Fixture Smart Design and Top LED Technology at the 2017 Lighting Show and LED Exhibition

Organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and implemented by TAITRA and the Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association, the 2017 Taiwan International Lighting Show will be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (Hall 1) from April 12 – 15, 2017. This lighting show will be exhibited at the same time as the LED Taiwan, which is co-organized by SEMI Taiwan and TAITRA. Overall, 150 domestic and international vendors will participate in this exhibition. The exhibition will feature over 500 stalls, and is expected to attract over 12,000 visitors. This will be Taiwan’s largest and most influential professional lighting and LED exhibition.

The theme of this lighting exhibition is “Smart Design, Radiant Life.” Vendors participating in the exhibition will be divided into the Lighting Zone, the Special Lighting Zone, the Test & Inspection Equipment Zone, and the first ever Lighting Design Zone. The new Lighting Design Zone will display numerous ingenious interior and exterior, commercial, and home use creative lighting. For the exhibition theme pavilions, organized by the Taiwan Intelligent LED Lighting Association (TILLA), Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association will display the newest development trends in the lighting industry based on the high quality lighting technology, OLED lighting, and modern LegEnD lighting themes. For the first time, the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center will use situation lighting to fully demonstrate the characteristics of flashy creative products and high-end technology.

The LED Taiwan being held at the same time as the lighting show will display high-brightness LED, LED components, sapphire substrates, and lasers. This exhibition follows closely to key industry topics, and for the first time, has set up a special IR/UV pavilion. Numerous well-known domestic and international vendors and research agency experts have been invited to share technology and application related development trends.

Taiwan’s LED industry has a strong foundation in semiconductors, and has formed a comprehensive supply chain, which can be utilized on large-size panels and mobile phone backlight and display. Furthermore, this supply chain can gradually be applied to ordinary lighting and automobile lighting. According to data from the Department of Statistics, MOEA, Taiwan’s lighting industry value is continuing to grow. In 2016, the industry value was estimated at approximately NT$ 15 billion. The industry mainly benefited from LED technology innovation and expanded applications. LED lighting equipment has accounted for over 50% of the overall lighting equipment industry value for two consecutive years. This indicates that LED is gradually replacing traditional lighting in the lighting market.

To encourage operators to develop technology and produce innovative products, an “Innovative Product Award” is being introduced in the lighting show. Industry, government, and academic experts will conduct selection based on innovation, marketing, environmental friendliness, and safety of the entries. This year, eight products were selected and the hosting organization will announce the award list and issue the awards at the opening ceremony on the 12th. The selected entries will be displayed at the exhibition’s Innovation Products Pavilion.

Professional seminars will be conducted on the topics of smart city lighting trends and building/lighting/and design. The Industrial Technology Research Institute has invited industry and academic experts from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to conduct the Taiwan Solid State Lighting Conference (tSSL) and LED Lighting International Marketing Conference. Exhibiting vendor, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), will also hold a “Lighting Trend and Energy Efficiency Update” seminar. The 2017 lighting show is full of activities and excitement, and we hope to see you there.
