58% new participants revealed at Franchising & Licensing Asia

( Singapore ) FLAsia (Franchising & Licensing Asia) is the International Event for Entrepreneurship, Business Opportunities & Intellectual Property Rights in Asia. It provides an opportunity which assembles prospective franchisees and investors, allowing business individuals to attain their aspirations. Participants will be able to turn their dreams into reality with range of franchises for their consideration.

The 8th edition will be held from 3 – 5 October 2013 at Level 1 Hall B, Sands Expo & Convention Center of Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Mr Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, will be the Guest-of-Honour for the event’s opening ceremony on 3 October.

This year, FLAsia 2013 will be welcoming 156 local brands and concepts to the show (a 35 per cent increase from 2012). This strong endorsement is testament to its position as the major franchise and licensing show in the region, which has in the past successfully reached out to business owners, entrepreneurs and investors.

Leading the Singapore Pavilion is the Franchising & Licensing Association (FLA Singapore), representing favourites such as Chewy Junior, Polar Puffs & Cakes, Gripz, Peach Garden Chinese Restaurant, and Crystal Jade My Bread.

All in all, more than 230 international franchises and brands (a 7% increase from 2012) from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK among others have confirmed their participation, representing industries such as Food & Beverages, Health & Wellness, and Education.

Other brands and concepts to watch include The Kase – a new shop-sign-brand dedicated to the sale of fashion accessories for electronic devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, SoulKids® – a life-skills program that develops happy, positive and selfconfident children, and Ooh My Gas – an F&B concept which claims to be the first hi-tech Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream in Asia. Ice cream is made on the spot with rapid freezing process (-196 °C), resulting in a product which is free from crystallisation with a creamier texture.

Education will also play a key role in the event, with the FLAsia International Conference & Workshop running parallel to the exhibition. The conference features top-notch international leaders as speakers like Bret Cunningham - International Vice President, Smoothie King and
John Pain - Managing Director & Vice President (AP EMEA), Wendy’s Global Restaurants.

This year, Roundtable sessions are part of the Conference programme. Franchisors, franchisees, suppliers and academics will collectively brain-storm, discuss and share best practices and advice concerning the challenges and opportunities arising from running a franchise business.
