It provides a global platform for accelerating ICT innovation to improve lives faster, to make the world better, sooner.

Organized since 1971 by ITU, the United Nations specialized agency for ICTs, the 2017 event will be hosted by the Republic of Korea, through its Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP)

ITU Telecom World 2017 combines an exhibition for digital solutions, a forum for sharing knowledge, a networking hub for nations, organizations and individuals and an award programme recognizing global excellence in innovation for social impact. The event is also a global platform for forging or cementing partnerships and is where companies and countries often choose to share their key announcements with our influential audience.

The Exhibition enables companies and countries large and small, investors, innovators, projects and decision makers, from emerging and developed markets to showcase digital solutions as well as highlight investment and partnership opportunities.

Under the theme “Digital transformation, global opportunity,” the world-class Leadership Summit and Forum will look at how digital technologies are transforming industries and societies, exploring how best to seize the opportunities this brings. Key topics will include AI, 5G, banking, smart cities, sustainable development and building inclusive innovation ecosystems.

The high-profile ITU Telecom World Awards recognize innovative ICT-based solutions with social impact, providing international visibility, the opportunity to develop business on a global scale, partnership and networking opportunities. Structured networking events, spaces and social occasions will connect private sector and government, individuals and ideas.

Introduction :

Run by ITU, ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs.

We allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strive to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.

ITU is committed to connecting all the world's people – wherever they live and whatever their means. Through our work, we protect and support everyone's fundamental right to communicate.

Today, ICTs underpin everything we do. They help manage and control emergency services, water supplies, power networks and food distribution chains. They support health care, education, government services, financial markets, transportation systems, e-commerce platforms and environmental management. And they allow people to communicate with colleagues, friends and family anytime, and almost anywhere.

With the help of our global membership, ITU brings the benefits of modern communication technologies to people everywhere in an efficient, safe, easy and affordable manner.

ITU membership reads like a Who's Who of the ICT sector. We're unique among UN agencies in having both public and private sector membership. So in addition to our 193 Member States, ITU membership includes ICT regulators, many leading academic institutions and some 700 tech companies.

In an increasingly interconnected world, ITU is the single global organization embracing all players in this dynamic and fast-growing sector.
